Cut one long PDF into smaller files: separate chapters, pull invoices out of a monthly statement or save every page as its own PDF. You see exactly which pages go into which file before you download.
Do it now in the free PDF editorOpens in your browser. No sign-up, no watermark — your PDF is never uploaded.
Click More in the toolbar and choose Split PDF. Each page shows the file it will go into.
Click the scissors between two pages to start a new file there, type page ranges such as 1-3, 4-8, or choose Every N pages or Bookmarks.
Check the file list in the panel and click Split PDF. Several files are downloaded together as one ZIP.

Split by bookmarks: a new file starts at every chapter and is named after it
Three ways to split a PDF
Ranges: click the scissors between pages, or type each file’s pages separated by commas. For example, 1-2, 3-9, 10-12 makes three files: a cover letter, a contract and its appendix.
Every N pages: split a scanned stack into equal parts, such as every 2 pages for two-page forms or every page for single-page invoices.
Bookmarks: start a new file at each chapter or section of a handbook, a manual or a court filing, named after the bookmark.
What is kept in each file
Every file is a complete PDF with only its own pages. Bookmarks, internal links and form fields that point to those pages are kept and fixed up; anything that points to pages in other files is removed, so no content from the other pages is left behind in the file.

Frequently asked questions
How do I save every page of a PDF as a separate file?
Open Split, choose Every N pages and click 1. Each page becomes its own PDF, named after the original file and the page number, for example report-page-4.pdf. All files are downloaded in one ZIP.
Can I split a PDF by chapters or bookmarks?
Yes. If the PDF has bookmarks (the table of contents that PDF readers show in the sidebar), choose Bookmarks. A new file starts at every top-level bookmark, or at every section if you pick level 2, and each file is named after its bookmark.
Are my edits included in the split files?
Yes. Text, signatures, highlights, redactions, watermarks, rotated and cropped pages are all saved into every file, exactly as you see them in the editor. Filled-in form fields keep their values.
Can a page go into more than one file?
Yes. Type overlapping ranges such as 1-5, 5-10 and page 5 is saved in both files. Pages you leave out of all ranges are simply skipped.
Is the original PDF changed or uploaded?
No. Splitting happens in your browser and creates new files; the original stays on your device exactly as it was. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
